My Highest Award of 2017 by Shri Yogi Adityanath , Hon'ble C.M. of U.P.

The zeal to learn and gain practical experience in the civil engineering field led me and my much dedicated and hardworking team (Mr Sher Mohammad, Miss Rima Das and Miss Shreya Saha) to take a project on Rammed Earth Buildings (A low-cost housing technology) with Prof. Dr Deb Dulal Tripura, Asst. Prof., Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Agartala. As we continued our work, in the meantime, we got a golden opportunity to take part in National Design Competition which was being organised by HBTU Kanpur in search of low-cost housing models for urban and rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, India.
At first, we were like how can we just develop a model, I mean how much we know about engineering, we have just entered into the third year of engineering. We were afraid of failure, like what if our model gets rejected, the competition is open to all including architects, consultants, builders, contractors, researchers, professors, working engineers and students.

It was the first of January 2016, the whole world was celebrating and I, lying alone on my bed in the hostel, was thinking just one thing that how can I accept failure without even trying. That was the moment I felt like, Yes!! I have to do it and I am going to do it, no matter how much hard work it takes. I was fortunate to have such a team with me. We started making plans, layouts, read several building codes, reviewed several pieces of literature and yes, our guide's research thesis. It was not that easy to work on models along with academic classes. But, we were determined that we will submit the models within a month anyhow. Finally, after lots of hard work and perseverance, we successfully completed the first-ever technical project assigned.

This project boosted such a level of confidence in us that hope we will never become afraid of any sort of works. Finally, the result came out and our project secured an overall second position in the rural category on the national level in the design competition. I was called to Lucknow, U.P. on 8th August 2017 to receive the award, which was given by the Hon'ble chief minister of U.P., Shri Yogi Adityanath.

Award Ceremony

I thank and congratulate all of my teammates for their untiring efforts to make this happen. I especially thank our mentor Prof. Deb Dulal Tripura for all his necessary support and guidance.
